19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
